Types of Restaurants
Choosing a restaurant to dine out seems to become a difficult
problem to decide. Because there are various restaurants built up in recent
years; most of them make their efforts to attract audience and customers with
creative slogan, unique menu, exquisite decoration, special discount and so on.
Before you are about to choose a restaurant, there are some concepts that you
need to take them into account: What is your price range? What kind of dish do
you want? What atmosphere do you look forward to? Do you want casual one or
formal one? There are six types of restaurants below which are divided according
to several categories.
Fast Food Restaurant
It means dining service is fast. People
often think that most food of this kind of restaurant is fried or unhealthy one,
such as KFC or McDonald’s. But in recent years, the industries of fast food
restaurant alter their policy and begin to sell more diverse and healthier
food. For instance: salad, fruit, soup and so on. They even develop
“drive-thru” service to make it convenient for those who are hurried for their
school or work.
Fast Casual
It is one of the popular form of restaurant. It is more expensive
than that of fast food restaurant. What’s more, it provides disposable dishes
and flatware with customers whereas their food tends to be presented as more
upscale. A renowned fast casual restaurant is Chipotle Mexican Grill in
America. The most famous dish is Chipotle. Compared to McDonald’s, the
categories of dish of Chipotle Mexican Grill is fewer, which means its circulation
of customers becomes faster.
Family Style
Family style dining, also known as casual style dining, offering
moderate and reasonable price for the public. It also can be divided into
several types according to the style or theme of dish: Japanese, Korean, Thai,
Italian, French and so on. Besides, family style restaurant offers table side
service, non-disposable dishes.
Café or Bistro
Café restaurant not only just sells coffee, but also sells beverage,
light meal, salad, sandwich, baked goods and on forth. In addition, it does not
offer table service. People order the food at the counter then serve on their
own. Café restaurant is famous for its relaxed atmosphere, and some people even
can kill their time the whole afternoon. As for bistro, it is similar to café restaurant
to some degrees. It originates from France, which offers simple food with low
price. Its dish includes beef stew or ratatouille, even entire meals.
Food Court
Food court, also called as Food Square. It is usually located in the
department stores, shopping malls or airports. Food court contains various and
different food. The most obvious characteristic of food court is that it has
public space people can have their meal. After ordering the meal, people take
their meal to the seats they choose in the public space.
Food Truck
A popular form of food fashion is mobile food truck restaurant. The
advantage of mobile food truck restaurant is low cost and low overhead. Thus,
many young people can open a new restaurant easily by this. The benefit of it
contains the convenience to go everywhere people are crowed. However, this
business requires a lot of workload due to its fewer members, and needs to pay
attention, especially when the peak of the meal time.
In fact, the restaurants come up with more and more ideas on dish,
menu, decoration, scale, discount in order to attract more customers to
patronize. Each restaurant makes the efforts to achieve their attempts. They
even have the featured product whose fame spreads through all lanes and
streets. People dine out frequently nowadays, maybe people will hesitate which
restaurants comply with their expectation. It is time for different types of
restaurants to try the whole bag of tricks to appeal to people.

My Favorite Sights
There are always filled with breathtaking sights to see around the
world, no matter is natural attraction or scenic spot. Every country is committed to preserving its valuable
treasure. In my country, Formosa Taiwan, there is one of my favorite sights－Liuqiu. Surrounded by
natural sources and the ocean, Liuqiu is a splendid place for people to take
their leisure time. People can feel the picturesque and grand scenery of it.
Liuqiu is the only one coral island of Taiwan’s offshore islands.
Most of the villagers are engaged in fishing and survive on fishing. The most
interesting is that there are two main occupations of theirs: principals and
captains. Liuqiu is characterized by diverse marine sources and fishing
lifestyles of the local people. There are also odd rocks corroded by the sea
along the coast. It is the gift given by the nature.
Liuqiu is the living witness of the natural history. The first
example of an amazing sight of nature is Vase Rock. It is the most attractive
and renowned spot on Liuqiu, which is formed by the coastal coral reefs. The
coral formation looks like a vase because of its shape. Vase Rock is always
regarded as the first place to visit. Because it is located near the main port
of Liuqiu, it becomes the most popular landmark and is considered a remarkable
guardian of Liuqiu. The second example is Beauty Cave. The primary attractions
of it are limestone walls, corroded cliffs, collapsed coral cliffs, sea
terraces and sea caves. Besides these natural scenery, Beauty Cave has a tragic
story. According to the legend, in Ming Dynasty, there was a charming lady and
her father who was an official traveled by boat on the ocean. Unfortunately,
the boat was hit by the strong winds during the journey and they couldn’t find
each other finally. The beautiful lady floated to the shore of Liuqiu. She
lived on wild fruit and vegetable, and lived the rest of her life on Liuqiu.
And another saying is that in ancient era, people put more emphases on boy and despised
girls. So when a family has two girls, they would abandon the little one to the
cave. The other is Black Dwart Cave, it also has a historical legend. During
the Ming Dynasty, Zheng Cheng Gong withdrew the Dutch and took over Taiwan;
however, some black slaves were abandoned in this dreadful cave. According to
the local legend, there were stone tables, stone chairs, stone bowls in the
cave during the Ching Dynasty.
In addition, Liuqiu is a brilliant place to appreciate the ocean and
the sunset. There are two of my favorite sights. One is Sea View Pavilion,
which is located between Beauty Cave and the shore. People can view the coastal
cliffs and net-cage fish farming. To my surprise, when I visited Liuqiu one
week ago, I saw green sea turtles from this place. It is a spectacular spot
which is worthy of notice. The other is Sunset Gallery, which is situated in
the southwestern part of Liuqiu. What’s more, it faces Taiwan Strait. Not only
is Sunset Gallery the best place for people to watch an astonishing sunset, but
also a fantastic place for tourists to feel the sea breeze and appreciate the
stunning sea view during their journey.
Culture is also an important element of Liuqiu. When it comes to
Liuqiu, there is always popping up Ying Wang Ceremony in everyone’s mind. This
ceremony is different from Donggang’s. The most famous procedure during this
ceremony is Goddess Patrol and Pilgrimage through the boat around Liuqiu to
make sure every corner on Liuqiu clean. This event is held every three year, and
it lasts for seven days each time. The local people are devout, they believe
this can bring good fortune and abundant fishing harvest.
There are various sights existing in every country, and it is our
duty to explore its charming beauty, no matter is from natural or cultural
aspect. In fact, we can learn something from it and experience the harmony and
peace of the nature. I had visited Liuqiu three times, and I am convinced and
believe that Liuqiu has some of the perfect sights that I will not forget.

Trip to Donggang 3
You won’t miss marvelous and lip smacking food when visiting Donggang,
especially for the seafood. There are a variety of restaurants standing on the reputable street called Guangfu Road. It is a good choice to Guangfu Road if you look
forward to enjoying the multiple selections of fresh seafood. When mentioning
seafood, there are three kinds of treasures which can represent the features of
Donggang: blufin tuna, sakura prawns and oil fish roe. Blifin tuna is the most
sufficient and productive from April to June every year. The meat from the
belly is the most enticing. It is perfect and finger licking with sashimi, and
it will melt in the mouth; this not only satisfies with every tourist but also
is praised by visitors. In addition, blufin tuna is rich in several kinds of
nutrition which contributes healthy elements to our bodies. It also has smooth
texture that makes people impressive. The second treasure is sakura prawns. It is
delightful and extraordinary when adding sakura prawns into fried rice. This
is the way my mother cooks for me. It can be used either in cooking or in
making snacks and ice cream, which will leave people a special experience. By the
way, the annual season of sakura prawns starts from November to May in the next
year. It is forbidden to catch sakura prawns in the rest of months. Every catcher
in Donggang follows the rules during the banned periods to make sure that
sakura prawns has enough time to breed its generations. The third one is oil
fish roe. It is recognized as mullet roe, whereas there are something
different. The eggs of ill fish roe are bigger than those of mullet roe. It is
usually roasted then cut into slices accompanied with garlic. It sounds weird
and bizarre, but it tastes luscious as well as delectable indeed. Taking a road
trip to Donggang, it will bring you an admirable gustatory enjoyment.

When going to the center of the town, most people come up with Donglong
Temple, which is a significant site and the center of the local people’s
spirit. It is connected with the local villagers’ routine which has an
important impact on normal life. In addition, it is a magnificent and
historical spot because it has more than three-hundred-year history and is
renovated now to make it more brilliant. What’s more, it is noted for its
burning of the Wang Ye boat. This ceremony takes place every three years as
well as attracts thousands of people to make pilgrimage, even some reporters
and TV hosts to record the whole process of burning the Wang Ye boat. Before
the ceremony of burning the Wang Ye boat, it needs to be shown around through
every main street in Donggang to sure that evils and plagues have been taken.
This is a complicated and grand ritual of the ceremony. In spite of its tough
hardship and challenging procedure, there are still a lot of local people, visitors
and even foreigners following the Wang Ye boat to take part in the majestic
parade with their full sincerity. The next stage of this ceremony is to burn
the Wang Ye boat. Although I think it will give birth to serious air pollution
and contribute to damage to the environment, it plays an essential role in
traditional part. Burning the Wang Ye boat is the last step of the whole
ceremony, it stands for that Wang Ye has been sailed off to the heaven, and
taking away all the plagues and disease. It will continue to protect the town
and villagers in the following days. I dare to bet participating this splendid
ceremony not only makes you understand this special tradition but also brings
you an impressive experience.

A Road Trip to Donggang
A Road Trip to Donggang
When it came to Donggang, Dapeng Bay Bridge popped up to everyone’s mind. But to me, it was once my nightmare for five years. It was inaugurated when I was in eighth grade. Since then, it had taken me thirty to forty minutes to ride a bike to school. In the process, the most difficult challenge was to ride up the bridge. It is seventy-one meters tall from the column tip to water surface, or seventeen meters tall from the bridge to water surface. No matter how I made effort to try to reach the top, only I could do was give up in the half way. Although these “special” experiences were tough to my studying life, I had to say this bridge was an impressive structure indeed because it was the only one flexible suspension bridge set for sea traffic in Taiwan, and I was really proud of it. What’s more, the bridge could be appreciated from three perspectives, and you could find something interesting from it. It looked like a giant bird when looking from the front; like the English letter A while appreciating from the hind, or resembled a sail when you looked from the side respectively. It depended on from which angle you took a look, and maybe you could take a yacht to enjoy it. Moreover, people could choose which way to appreciate the bridge. Some chose to ride a bike to the top, and Liuqiu would come into sight; the other chose to take a yacht, especially to appreciate its opening show. The most brilliant was its shape. The sail-shaped bridge attracted a great number of people to visit on weekends, but also showed its unique charisma of the ocean imagery. It was worthy of visiting Donggang and you wouldn’t regret. Its charm and charisma would be beyond your imagination
